When we share our pen with the world, we do so with the hope that our words will live beyond us—that our stories will become part of a legacy that remains long after the final page is turned.
We write hoping our words will help someone heal through heartbreak, inspire someone to fall in love, challenge the mind, awaken the imagination, or give someone permission to dream beyond the world they know.
Today, we pause to honor those we have lost within our literary community.
While we mourn their absence, we also celebrate the beautiful gift they left behind: their words.
Their stories remain.
Their characters remain.
Their wisdom, creativity, imagination, and insight remain within every page they shared with the world.
That is one of the most beautiful things about being a storyteller. Though the pen may one day be laid to rest, the words it created can continue traveling into hands, homes, hearts, and generations we may never see.
As we continue our own journeys—writing, creating, publishing, reading, and sharing our art—we do so standing on the shoulders of storytellers who came before us.
We will speak their names.
We will remember their stories.
We will cherish their art.
And we will continue sharing their words so that their literary legacies live on.
The author may be gone, but the story continues.
